Healthy Boy

Josiah got a toy doctor set for Christmas and so I showed it to him this morning while telling him we were going to see Dr. Krause and he was so excited. I let him take the stethescope with him so he could show it off. It was pretty cute watching him show the Doctor.
He weighed in at 27 lbs and his height was 35 inches. The charts showed him as average for his age and should be tall and slender as he gets older. I thought it was a success, especially after all the weight he lost from being so sick. Dr. Krause says he's healthy!
He had two shots (didn't cry at all) and is done until he goes to school. Mrs. Krause made a animal balloon for him for being so good during the shots. And as we left, Josiah said, "Bye Bye Krause." Pretty cute.

Josiah gets to see Santa Claus

Josiah got to sit on Santa's lap at the mall today. As you can plainly see he was hardly able to control his excitment.
He really was excited though! I don't think he understood the whole picture part. We put him on Santa's lap and he was very pleased and then when we asked his to say "cheese," he looked at us like, "huh?" I guess I am just glad he wasn't screaming. He did a great job after having to wait an hour to see "Canca Claus" (Josiah's version of Santa Claus). Maybe next year we'll get a smile out of him!

Christmas Baking!

I have never really enjoyed baking. I would've rather cooked a thousand meals before baking a cake. I don't really know why. But this Christmas, I have found a new love for baking. It's probably because I have a little helper named Josiah.
He's helped me make lots of cookies and also helped Grandma Patterson frost and sprinkle sugar cookies(I will post pictures soon). He loved putting sprinkles on the cookies and he would do it so delicately.
Now that he's getting older, he likes to help Mommy rather than destroy what Mommy is doing. It is amazing how fast he's growing up. His vocabulary has grown immensely within this last week. His newest thing is calling me Mom, instead of Mommy. It makes me feel like he's a teenager. It is pretty funny though.

Our version of Frosty....without the hat

I got brave today and decided to take Josiah outside and make his very own snowman. Once we were all bundled up, we headed outside. I started making the snowman and realized the snow was not packing. So I did my best to try and sculpt the snowman and this is how it turned out...pretty small huh? I guess Nick will have to try to make a bigger snowman for our little guy. He seemed pretty excited about though, except for the fact that Frosty didn't have a hat.

"I love you Frosty!"

Josiah has a new best friend. Not that he had a best friend before. Although I guess I would consider Thomas the Train his favorite thus far. Last night, Josiah was given a Frosty the Snowman from Grannie and Granddad.

For the last week Josiah has been watching the old Christmas movies on TV. His favorite is Frosty the Snowman and he talks about him all the time. When he got his own Frosty, he was so excited and hasn't let him go since.

I let him watch Frosty the Snowman last night and he immediately took his Frosty and sat it down right next to him. He was hugging it the whole time! He slept with him last night. Then, this morning, he was eating waffles and decided Frosty was hungry. He says to me, "Frosty the Snowman bite." So he gave Frosty some waffles. It was pretty funny.

Learning the Nativity!

Josiah was given a Nativity on his first Christmas. It is stuffed which is great for Josiah-he's already broken one of my decorations....oh well. He has learned all the characters in the Nativity, but this week he decided to change all the names.
I was in the other room and I heard him saying, "Mommy, Daddy and Josiah." So I went and watched him as he chose me to be Mary and Daddy to be Joseph and, of course, he was baby Jesus. Then he proceeded to say other names in the family to be the shepherds and wise men. It was super cute.
Another silly thing..he has to line them up perfectly. I mean PERFECTLY. Seriously, if it is a centimeter off the world will end. The same goes for all his trains. He's definitely developed a little obsession to structure/order.

Giving Back

Nick and I host a small group at our house. It's actually called a Missional Community Group, in the sense that our main purpose is living with a mission. We mainly do service projects for the community. This week we went out and bought christmas presents for four families that are in need. We were given christmas lists from each person and when I read what they wanted it made me feel so selfish. A lot of the requests were for underwear, socks, and towels. I'm glad we were able to help them in a time of need. We are praying that these families will feel the love of Christ this Christmas.

My brother came up with this great idea for our Christmas this year. Instead of buying presents for everyone, we decided to go in together and buy a goat for a family in Africa. Samaritan's Purse is a great organization where you can pick gifts to send to different countries. I think it is important to remember to give back especially during this Christmas season.

Not sure about his cupcake. This is exactly how he was on his first birthday. He's the pickiest eater I know, even when it comes to sugar!

Thanks to all who came to wish Josiah a Happy Birthday! Sorry most of the pictures are out of order. I promise I will figure it out!

Happy 2nd Birthday Josiah!!

I can't even believe I have a two year old. He's growing up so fast and I feel like I can't keep up.
He had a very fun party with all his family and got to play with both of his cousins. Fortunately we had his party early this year, because he came down with the stomach flu. After two ER visits, IVs, and lots of vomit, he is starting to feel a lot better. He is now walking and talking to me. It was horrible to watch him be so miserable. I never want to go through that again.
So today, his actual birthday, we had a very quiet evening. I am so thankful for Josiah...he's been such a blessing. Happy Birthday little man!!
